4th Grade Community Service Project
Our three Valley Elementary fourth grade classes recently participated in a service project to benefit the Scioto County Homeless Shelter. In response to the shelter's need for towels, our students collected new and gently used bath towels for the residents who temporarily make the Scioto County Homeless Shelter their home. On Friday, September 25th, Maureen Cadogan, director of the shelter, came to the school to talk with our students and accept the donation of towels. During her presentation, Ms. Cadogan explained how the shelter helps homeless individuals and families and described a variety of situations which can lead to homelessness. She expressed her sincere gratitude for the gift of towels, causing the students to learn a valuable lesson in the rewards that can be received by helping others who are less fortunate.
