Chandler Carter- Best of Show

Valley's Art Department showed off their talents last night during the Visually Literate Art Show at Shawnee State University.  There were 122 pieces of artwork submitted overall.  The final show featured 50 pieces of artwork from 11 Scioto County schools, 10 of which were created by Valley Art students.  High School Art Teacher Kelly Montgomery said "Just having artwork selected for inclusion in the show is a great honor and testament to the artistic abilities, skills, and dedication of Valley students.  I'm so proud of everyone!  The students at Valley are so creative and I'm always excited to showcase their work.  It's even more exciting (for both them and I) when others recognize their gifts and efforts."  Alexis Whitt, Abigail Boyd, Olivia Hilton, Emilie Johnson, Noelle Smith, and Chandler Carter all had pieces in the show.  Abigail Boyd received 2nd Place in the "Mixed Media" category.  Emilie Johnson received an Honorable Mention in the "Colored Drawing" category.  Chandler Carter received 2nd Place in the "Colored Drawing" category.  Noelle Smith received 1st Place in the "Utilitarian/Functional Art" category.  Finally, Chandler Carter won  overall "Best of Show" meaning that out of all artwork accepted into Visually Literate regardless of category, his artwork was selected as the top piece.
